Event Sign Up Form - NOW CLOSED (SORRY, BUT WE ARE AT CAPACITY!)
After 15 years of leading Schola Cantorum, Jamie Burton is moving on to the position of Choral Director at Boston Symphony Orchestra and Conductor of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus. His final concert with Schola Cantorum is at 7.30pm on Saturday 10 June at the University Church of St Mary the Virgin, High Street, Oxford and we are inviting all alumni to attend and to join Schola in singing Schoenberg 'Friede auf Erden', Tallis 'Loquebantur variis linguis', Bach 'Singet den Herrn' and Brahms 'Fest und Gedenksprüche'.
In particular to focus on the Schoenberg, but also to have an extra chance to get together with Jamie, there will be an Alumni rehearsal in London on Thursday 8 June 7.15pm - 10pm (venue TBC). Alumni rehearsals on concert day will start at 1.15pm at the University Church. If you are unable to attend the rehearsal on 8 June, we’d rather you didn’t attempt 'Friede' on the day but you would be welcome to sing the other three pieces. It's also a chance to hear current Schola, who will be performing the rest of the concert.
We'd like to suggest a £25 contribution to the costs of this event, which includes a seat in the Nave during the first half of the concert, a souvenir programme and an invitation to the Trustees' Tea Party after the rehearsal on 10 June. There will be a small separate charge for music hire, if required.
To take part, please sign up below. You will receive an acknowledgement with instructions as to how to pay. Please note that, due to space restrictions, there is a limit on numbers so we may not be able to accept all applications to sing. The closing date is midnight on Sunday 21 May.
If you do not want to sing in the concert you can still sign up for the Trustees' Tea Party below (for which the charge will be £10). To buy tickets for the concert please click here.
